Chronic gastritis

Chronic gastritis causes inflammation of the stomach mucosa. Besides, in some cases, it affects deeper layers too. It is also a widespread disease, accounting for about thirty-five per cent of all digestive system disorders and eighty to eighty-five per cent of all stomach abnormalities.

Factors

Sometimes, acute gastritis develops further. However, it usually develops under the influence of various exogenous factors. They include:

• long-lasting or repeated periods of improper nutrition;
• spicy and rough food;
• boiling food;
• insufficient mastication;
• junk food;
• Immoderate drinking and potent drinks cause alcoholic gastritis.

Treatment of chronic gastritis

Indeed, low-quality food (protein, iron and vitamin deficiency) may cause chronic gastritis. Also, continuous and uncontrolled treatment by stomach-irritating medicines (Salicylates, Butadiene, Prednisolone, some antibiotics and Sulfanilamide) may cause damage. Besides, industrial hazardous substances (plumbous compounds, powdered coal, metal dust, etc.) lead to gastritis; moreover, diseases causing tissue hypoxia (chronic circulation insufficiency, pneumo-sclerosis, anaemia) damage the mucosa. Endogenous intoxications are negative factors in gout or kidney disorder (the stomach mucosa discharges urea, uric acid, indole, skatole, etc.). Toxins during infectious diseases or having a local chronic nidus (the so-called eliminative chronic gastritis), hereditary predisposition, etc., may cause this disease.

Can colon hydrotherapy help treat Chronic Gastritis?

Colon hydrotherapy, or colonic irrigation or cleansing, involves gently introducing warm water into the colon to flush out accumulated waste and toxins. While some proponents claim that colon hydrotherapy can treat various digestive issues, including chronic gastritis, limited scientific evidence supports its effectiveness for this specific condition.

Chronic gastritis primarily involves inflammation of the stomach lining, and it is not directly related to the colon. The inflammation in gastritis is caused by various factors, such as bacterial infections (Helicobacter pylori), long-term use of NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs), excessive alcohol consumption, and autoimmune disorders. Therefore, treating this condition requires addressing its underlying causes and managing symptoms through appropriate medical interventions.

As of my last update in September 2021, there was no substantial scientific evidence to demonstrate that colon hydrotherapy can effectively treat chronic gastritis. The treatment for this condition typically involves:

1. We must identify and treat the underlying cause of gastritis (e.g., H. pylori infection).
2. Medications to reduce stomach acid and inflammation.
3. Lifestyle changes include adopting a balanced diet, avoiding trigger foods, and managing stress.

Relying solely on colon hydrotherapy for gastritis treatment may not be effective and could delay necessary medical care.
